I'm in a soup!

Aoa all. A few year back, i had nikkah with a person. Before the marriage could be consummated,it got over. It was I who got Khula. Now within a  month of that, i got married elsewhere AND the wedding got consummated. Now, after several months of my wedding, me and my partner have come to know that if i had ever been in 'khalwat' (loneliness) with my X, i should have completed iddat before second marriage, even if sexual intercourse did not happen. Our nikkah was 'fasid' (invalid) and we must do it again. Now, my inlaws are not ready to take me back, though their son is. My questions are:
1) it happened due to ignorance, so will it be called, God4bid zina?
2) the purpose of iddah is to determine pregnancy, but my second husband is witness that i was a virgin when we married
3) if, God4bid, his family bugs him so much that he can't remarry me, what will be the procedure of separating from him
4) during this period, if someone approaches me for marriage, am i allowed to meet him/his family?
5) am i allowed to use the gifts my husband gave me and the money he gave me for sustenance?

You should consult a mufti or Islamic scholar regarding this matter. Us members can't help you much on this.

By the way, if their son is ready to take you back, and you agree to go back to him, there's not much his parents can do. And yes, you may use the gifts your husband gave you.
